When I started the idea of Silver Rain, I didn't know were I was going or what I wanted to get out of it. I just knew that I had bundles of creativity and I wanted to do something with my hands and make something that people would enjoy and remember me by. When I started crocheting and had the basic stitches down, I skipped all the boring stuff and shot for the sky. I started making the things I had always wanted but never found. I started making dolls and crazy colored hats and I never once used a pattern, I just learned how the stitches shaped the yarn and went from there.
My style quickly developed as did my direction. I look at a lot of crochet, and I see the same things. It all looks alike because everyone uses the same patterns to create certain shapes. I quickly developed my own style and my own unique patterns to make new and interesting things and instead of working a pattern into the design, I work in layers. Every individual color is it's own separate piece, and that aspect gives my work a sense of depth and form.
Another aspect of my work is the customization. Just about every aspect of a single piece can be changed to the buyer's fancy: size, color, and shapes. It makes it possible to take one of my designs and make it your very own.
Finally Silver Rain has kicked off and is open to the public. Still, my work has just begun. New pieces will be popping up left and right, and I cannot wait to see my art grow as people learn and understand the idea of Silver Rain. This is just the beginning of an epic journey.
